The APB appoints Alberto del Pino as new head of the ports of Ibiza and Savina

The Balearic Port Authority (APB) has appointed Alberto del Pino Rivera as the new delegate at the ports of Ibiza and La Savina, after successfully completing the public competition process called to fill this position. With this appointment, the APB strengthens the management of two of the key port infrastructures in the Pityusic Islands by recruiting a professional with an extensive technical and management background in the port and maritime engineering fields.

With a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Granada, Del Pino also has a Master's degree in Port Engineering and Management from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and a Master's degree in Occupational Risk Prevention from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Throughout his career he has accumulated more than 25 years of experience in the port sector and in maritime construction projects, both nationally and internationally.

He began his career as technical manager at the company PUYAT S.A., where he was responsible for the technical management of projects for ACUSUR (Aguas de la Cuenca del Sur). He later held port management responsibilities as manager of the Estepona Marina and technical manager of the ports of Marina del Este and Puerto de la Duquesa, which belong to the Marinas del Mediterráneo group.

Between 2010 and 2025 he was part of the international Van Oord group, where he participated in several port and coastal regeneration projects in southern Europe, acquiring solid experience in planning and executing maritime infrastructure. Since November 2025 he has served as head of the maritime works group at Adiante Infraestructuras.

Del Pino also participates in technical forums and international working groups linked to the maritime-port sector, including the Hispano-Portuguese group Aspectos Positivos del Dragado [Positive Aspects of Dredging] of the Asociación Técnica de Puertos y Costas [Technical Association of Ports and Coasts - ATYPC], and is part of the Environmental Commission of the Central Dredging Association (CEDA), an entity that promotes the exchange of knowledge in the field of dredging and maritime works.

With this appointment, the APB continues to strengthen the management, planning and sustainable development of the ports of Ibiza and La Savina, two strategic infrastructures for the connectivity, economy and maritime activity of the  Pityusic Islands.

The Marina promenade in the port of Ibiza regains its pedestrian character with the arrival of summertime

The Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) has ended the regulated parking period on the Paseo de la Marina and on the Avenida de Santa Eulària. Starting today, summer hours are again in effect, limiting vehicle access to the South dock area exclusively for loading and unloading operations.

According to this regulation, vehicles will be able to access from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. The maximum authorised time for these tasks will be 30 minutes, for both individuals and companies. Outside these time slots and on all other days, the space will remain exclusively for pedestrian traffic.

The opening of the port barrier during the winter months is in response to a request from Ibiza City Council, with the aim of improving mobility and facilitating parking in the port area. This measure has been in place since autumn 2023.

With the arrival of good weather and the increase in commercial activity in the port, the Marina promenade regains its primarily pedestrian character, in favour of use by the general public and the activity of businesses in the area

The APB presents the transformation project of the port of Palma to the trade union CCOO

The Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) has received a visit from representatives of the Balearic Islands branch of the trade union Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) to learn first-hand about the project for the transformation of the port of Palma, a strategic initiative aimed at modernising the port infrastructures and strengthening their integration with the city.

During the meeting, the trade union leaders had the opportunity to learn about the main components of the Port-City Integration Master Plan, an ambitious project that aims to reorganise 400,000 square metres of the port area and redefine its relationship with Palma, opening up new spaces for public use and improving the port's operational efficiency.

The initiative seeks to promote a new port model that is more sustainable, innovative and open to the public, while also consolidating the port of Palma as the island's economic and social driving force.

Amongst the plan's main lines of action are the reorganisation of port traffic, boosting the shipping and boating industry, the consolidation of cruise activity and the creation of new open spaces accessible to the public in various areas of the port.

The plan also envisages the addition of facilities related to training, research and innovation, as well as the recovery of heritage sites and the creation of green areas and public spaces.

The trade union delegation was led by José Luis García Vidal, secretary general of CCOO Illes Balears; Pep Ginard Vallcaneras, secretary of Management and Team Coordination of CCOO Illes Balears; and Carlos Torrens Trías, general secretary of the Federation of Citizen Services (FSC) of CCOO Illes Balears.

The meeting provided the opportunity for an exchange of views on the future of the port of Palma and its impact on economic activity, employment and the port-city relationship, in a climate of constructive dialogue and institutional collaboration.

The APB values positively this type of meeting, which contributes to sharing information on the strategic projects of the port and to strengthening the dialogue with representatives of business, organisations and workers of the Balearic Islands.
