The Board of Management of the Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) has agreed to approve a regulation for the provision of a commercial service for the supply of conventional petroleum-derived liquid fuels to ships, by means of tanker vehicles, in the ports of Palma, Alcúdia, Mahón, Ibiza and La Savina.

This service is essential for maritime activity, as it allows the supply of fuel to ships operating in ports in the Balearic Islands. The supply will be carried out by means of tanker vehicles, which shall deliver fuel alongside ships at berth when, for technical or operational reasons, it is not possible to do so by means of fixed facilities.

The service will be provided within the port service areas of each port and will have all the technical means necessary to ensure safe, efficient and environmentally friendly operations. The specifications set strict requirements for safety, risk prevention and environmental protection.

The authorisation will have an initial duration of one year, with the possibility of automatic extension, up to a maximum of five years, which will provide stability to the service and ensure its continuity in the medium term.

With this regulation, the APB reaffirms its commitment to the efficient and safe provision of essential commercial services, contributing to the smooth operation of the ports, the competitiveness of the maritime sector and sustainable port activity in the Balearic Islands.
