The Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) has joined Forética, the leading organisation in sustainability and corporate social responsibility in Spain and Latin America. The accession is part of APB's new ESG strategy, which represents a comprehensive evolution in its public management model, incorporating environmental, social and good governance criteria across the board.
Joining Forética will allow APB to strengthen its relationship with knowledge and collaboration networks formed by leading companies and institutions in sustainability. This will enable the port organisation to make progress in key areas such as transparency, responsible governance, innovation and the port-city relationship.
In this context, the APB now forms part of the Action Group on Sustainability and CSR in Public Companies, a platform promoted by Forética that brings together leading public entities committed to moving towards more ethical and responsible management models aligned with ESG criteria. This group constitutes a stable space for cooperation in which participating organisations share experiences, challenges and solutions for strategically integrating sustainability in the public sector.
Through this platform, the APB will have access to specialised knowledge, working sessions with experts, advancement tools, collaborative projects and analysis of trends in areas such as good governance, ethics, transparency and social impact. The group also works on the design of reference frameworks, the identification of common challenges and the dissemination of good practices that contribute to consolidating a more innovative and accountable public administration.
The president of the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands, Javier Sanz, explains that “being part of Forética allows us to take a step forward in our commitment to exemplary public management, based on responsibility, transparency and the generation of value for society. This alliance will help us to continue moving in the right direction, hand in hand with leading entities that share our vision of a more sustainable future for the Balearic Islands”.
In turn, Germán Granda, CEO of Forética, says that “the incorporation of the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands as a Large Company of Forética reinforces its commitment to sustainability and responsible management, in a context in which moving towards more resilient, innovative models that are aligned with social and environmental expectations is essential. Having their drive and experience will be key to continue strengthening partnerships that allow us to accelerate action and contribute to sustainable development that generates value for people and territories”.
ESG Strategy
APB's ESG strategy aims to integrate environmental, social and good governance criteria transversally in all areas of work, reinforcing institutional transparency, promoting an ethical culture and fostering dialogue with stakeholders.
Key elements of the new strategic framework include consolidating social cash flow as an indicator of value generated for society, promoting a more robust transparency and ethics strategy, developing port-city integration projects, and creating new mechanisms for citizen participation.
This membership consolidates the APB's commitment to being at the forefront of sustainable management within the Spanish port system and to continuing to strengthen strategic alliances that generate value for citizens and the region.
