The Board of Directors of the Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) passed a resolution, in its last meeting held yesterday in Palma, to approve the specifications and clauses that will govern the public tender for the management, under concession, of several spaces in the vicinity of the Formentor lighthouse, in the municipality of Pollença, to be used as a bar, café and restaurant.
The tender will allow the operation of the facilities linked to the café and restaurant located next to the lighthouse, including several spaces of the main building and other attached premises. The future concession holder will be able to manage the establishment for a maximum period of ten years.
The Formentor lighthouse café has been open to the public since 1995 and has established itself for decades as one of Mallorca's most iconic tourist attractions, for both residents and tourists. Its superb location, with its extraordinary scenic and environmental value, makes it a unique space that forms part of the experience of visitors to the Formentor peninsula.
With this call, the APB seeks to guarantee the continuity of the restoration activity in the lighthouse through an open procedure that allows the selection of the proposal that offers the best conditions for managing the space.
The activity has continued in recent years thanks to a temporary permit granted through a public tender by the Board of Directors of the Port Authority in 2022. Now, the APB is taking a step further by calling for a longer-term concession, which will bring stability to the operation of this landmark establishment for residents and visitors.
