Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) is using recycled debris from the former headquarters of Trasmediterránea for its further use in the building of their new offices in the Moll Vell in the port of Palma. For this, a crusher machine has been installed in a fenced area of the commercial docks which treats the waste generated by the demolition for later use as aggregate filler for the construction itself.
The recycling of waste is a cost reduction alternative in the execution of the demolition and the construction of the foundation. In addition, recycling of these materials represents an important step in protecting the environment and achieving sustainable development in the sectors of construction and demolition, which generate large volumes of waste. In this way, the benefits of reusing the material itself are maximized and, by placing the machine crusher in an area close to the site, transportation is minimized , which also reduces the generation of CO2.
