ROM 5.1 (Recommendations for Port and Maritime Works) on the Quality of Coastal Waters in Sea Port Areas is a management tool to make port activities compatible with the quality of the water systems affected by these activities. Its ultimate objective is to:

  • Develop an internal quality assessment system, tailored to the specific characteristics of port systems.
  • Enable ports to have their own information about environmental risks and impacts in port waters.
  • Contribute to the sustainability of the activities taking place in port waters.

Pursuant to what is set out in the text of ROM 5.1, the scope of this tool is zones I and II of the ports of Palma, Alcudia, Mahon, Ibiza and La Savina.
